Ian English GMAPS, FIAP/p, MPSA
Ian has always had an interest in photography and apart from a box brownie when he was a kid, he bought his first SLR in 1970. He used this camera in Europe and on an overland journey from London to Capetown in 1975. He did not do much photography after that until he joined the Castle Hill Camera Club in Sydney in 2006. He joined the APS in 2007 and started entering competitions to improve his photography.
His main interests in photography have progressed towards people images while still maintaining a very keen interest in every other genre of photography. He also has a passion for creative/composite work mainly around people.
Ian started entering International Salons in 2008 and has had many successes along the way as well as some disappointments due to the vagaries of photographic judging. He has judged many Club, National and International photographic competitions. He served as Chairman of the Maitland International Photographic Salon for three years. He runs an International Exhibitors Group for photographers in the Hunter and Sydney regions.
Margaret Metcalfe EFIAP, FAPS
Photography has always held a strong interest for me, which quickly grew into a passion for all things photographic.
I joined a local camera club in 2008, Australian Photographic Society & PSA to help fill my thirst for knowledge & learning.
I discovered the Australian National Salons and International Salons in 2010 and found this a great way to compete anonymously and successfully gaining APS, FAPS, FIAP AND EFIAP honours. Along the way, my images have been lucky enough to be awarded at National and International Exhibitions, including the VIGEX Salons.I have been honoured to judge at camera clubs over the past years and at national & international level.
My personal interest in photography includes people and animal portraits, off camera flash, landscape & travel and the occasional emotive Audio Visual.A great photograph should always evoke a wow factor, a sense of wonder and admiration that returns with anticipation when the picture is viewed again and then kept in your mind for some time.
I draw inspiration from my peers consider myself very lucky to have shared the journey with so many outstanding photographic artists.
